Cycling in Cornwall
There is lots of good cycling in the area, but there are also a lot of hills (and that may be your thing!).
Cardinham Woods has extensive mountain bike trails catering for a range of difficulties and skill, as well as good walking and a cafe with delicious food. There is another excellent cafe at Stable Arts, five minutes from Cardinham Woods.
Siblyback Lake Country Park has a dry, level cycling path which is suitable for all ages, and a fabulous café – Olive and Co. One of our favourite places for lunch. Check out the menu online.
Lanhydrock National Trust house has a cycle path with a cafe where bikes can be hired.
The Camel Trail, the original cycling trail along the old railway line from Bodmin to Padstow, is suitable for the family. Cycles can also be hired.

karting / Water Sports / Swimming
Kartworld, Cornwall's best karting track is just down road on the A38. Next door to Kartworld is Adrenalin Quarry, an amazing attraction featuring the UK's "Maddest Zip Wire", the 150 feet high Giant Swing, freshwater coasteering and "The Blob". Children of 10 or older are welcome.

There are swimming pools in Liskeard and Bodmin and, of course, the sea. We are 11 miles from the south coast and 18 miles from the north coast. It takes us a around 25 minutes to drive from home down to a number of beaches on the south coast, and we often pop down in the late afternoon for a dip. We can advise on what is available at each local beach, depending on what you are looking for.

Dark Skies
At Hole Barn, we still have dark skies. The stars at night can be seen as they would have been hundreds of years ago, with hardly any light pollution to dim their brightness. The Milky Way is often clearly visible and different guests have taken some amazing photos. Don't be put off by the owls, however!
