Daphne du Maurier

IMG_1297The novelist set many of her famous books in Cornwall and rented Menabilly, near Fowey, the house that served as a model for Manderley in Rebecca. Jamaica Inn is four miles away, across the moor and still a thriving pub.

The du Maurier family are said to have always exclaimed “hooray” on crossing Brunel’s railway bridge into Cornwall – a tradition continued by Hole Barn’s owners!
